After going upstairs.
The man tossed the blanket from his body onto the bed and opened the door leading to the small balcony. Sunlight fell on his profile, illuminating his sharp, defined features and long, distinct eyelashes, each one clear in the halo of light.
Huo Jingyuan turned to look at Wen Ci, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Did you call me up here just to sunbathe?” His words were left hanging, suggestive and filled with ambiguity.
Wen Ci smiled and asked, “What else did you want to do?”
“Do…” The man’s tone lifted at the end, his gaze settling on her. His eyes were intense.
Wen Ci lifted her face, her eyes bright and playful, yet her tone remained calm. “How is it that someone is daydreaming in broad daylight?”
There had always been a chair placed on the small balcony. Huo Jingyuan reached out and pulled Wen Ci over. He sat down first, then had her sit on his lap. Wen Ci wrapped one arm around his neck, leaning in close, and said coquettishly, “Huo Jingyuan, you really have no shame.”
“No shame? I want you.”
“Get lost.” Wen Ci rolled her eyes. The man’s sweet talk was vulgar, cheesy, and boring. Every time she heard it, it made her skin crawl. “Can you please shut your mouth?”
After sunbathing for a while, Wen Ci clearly felt the change in the man beneath her. She struggled to get up, her fingertips deliberately teasing as they brushed past his chest. “Time for a nap.”
She never had the chance to take naps before, but after coming here, she had grown fond of them. As long as she had nothing to do at noon, she would take a nap to catch up on sleep.
“You did that on purpose?”
Wen Ci pretended not to know anything. “What on purpose? What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
The man gritted his teeth, stood up, and as he walked out of the small balcony, he pulled all the curtains in the room shut. Then, he walked to the door and locked it.
The room instantly lost its brightness, but the dimness gave rise to a sense of intimacy. The man’s footsteps were steady as he approached Wen Ci, who was sitting on the edge of the bed. “Taking a nap?”
Wen Ci issued a warning: “Yaozu is still downstairs doing his homework.”
“Just hold it in. As long as you don’t make any noise, it’ll be fine.”
Wen Ci was both angry and amused. Why should she be the one to stay quiet? Besides, the bed in the room would creak with even the slightest movement. Even if she didn’t make a sound, the creaking might still be heard by Wen Yaozu.
“The room door is locked.”
“Not enough.”
As he finished speaking, Wen Ci felt the man’s hot breath. He was only an inch away from her, the air thick with desire. Wen Ci held her breath but clearly sensed Huo Jingyuan’s proximity, his lips gradually nearing hers. The man’s lips parted slightly: “Darling, you started this fire. You’ll have to put it out yourself.”
Wen Ci’s breath trembled slightly. “What does that have to do with me?”
Huo Jingyuan’s voice was low and hoarse: “What do you think?”
Suddenly, Wen Ci felt a softness cover her lips. After a moment, he loosened his lips, breathing heavily, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “Let me collect a little interest first, okay?”
Wen Ci screamed inwardly with frustration. What did this have to do with her? And he called it “interest”? If he wanted to take advantage, why bother making excuses? What a dog of a man.
Just as Wen Ci was lost in her thoughts, the man deepened the kiss, his broad hand supporting her back as they slowly leaned back onto the bed.
Suddenly, thunder roared, and rain poured down.
In the living room, Wen Yaozu set down his homework and ran to the stairs, calling up to the second floor: “Sis, Brother-in-law, it’s raining! Should we bring the chairs inside?”
Huo Jingyuan, his face dark, released Wen Ci’s lips and shouted toward the door: “You go take care of it. Then stay in the living room and do your homework. Don’t come upstairs again.”
