Upon hearing his sister-in-law call him “Huaqiang,” Wang Huaqiang immediately felt his hair stand on end. His face changed color, and he stammered, “Sister-in-law, please, just call me Wang Huaqiang!”
Huaqiang was his childhood nickname, and only a very few in the military called him by that name. If the “King of Hell” found out, his life would be in danger!
Wen Ci was momentarily stunned, then smiled. Back when she was the Goddess of War, her subordinates had also been this timid. She raised an eyebrow slightly and asked, “Is Regimental Commander Huo really that terrifying?”
Wang Huaqiang nodded vigorously like a pestle pounding garlic.

After Wang Huaqiang left, Wen Ci walked in the direction of Huo Jingyuan’s office. The corridor was silent, and through the translucent glass, she could see Huo Jingyuan’s figure.
Like a thief, Wen Ci crouched down and moved around the window glass. She stood at the door, raised her hand, and knocked.
“So soon?”
A deep, steady voice sounded. He still had some things to handle and had asked Xue Li to bring him a meal from the canteen.
He had just arrived at the office, and Xue Li was back already?
Wen Ci didn’t make a sound. She crouched by the door, hiding. Given Huo Jingyuan’s height, his normal line of sight wouldn’t catch her crouching by the door.
She would stand up and surprise him when he got puzzled.
“Xue Li?” Huo Jingyuan called out tentatively.
After a while, Huo Jingyuan walked steadily toward the door, stood there, and glanced around. Then, his brows furrowed slightly.
“Surprise!”
Wen Ci suddenly jumped up, her fox-like eyes sparkling as she stared straight at Huo Jingyuan, smiling brightly. “How about that? Quite a surprise, huh?”
Huo Jingyuan’s furrowed brows gradually relaxed, and he let out a light laugh. It was clear he was in a good mood, his voice gentle. “A Ci, what brings you here?”
Wen Ci lifted the thermal lunchbox in her hand, her eyes curving into a smile. “Sister Jing left some food for you. I came specially to deliver supplies to Regimental Commander Huo.”
“She left some for me?”
“Yup.”
Huo Jingyuan reached out and took the lunchbox from Wen Ci’s hand. He invited her into the office. The regimental commander’s office was a shared one.
It was lunchtime now, and only Huo Jingyuan was left.
“Are you the only one here?”
“Everyone else has gone to eat.”
“Oh.”
Suddenly, Huo Jingyuan remembered that Wen Ci had just spoken a sentence in English. His eyes shifted, and he looked at her curiously. “A Ci, how do you know English?”
His A Ci was the biological daughter of the Jiang family but had grown up in the village.
“Uh…”
Wen Ci pondered how to explain.
She couldn’t very well tell Huo Jingyuan that she was a time traveler, could she?

“Eat up.”
“Okay.”
Huo Jingyuan opened the lunchbox. The aroma wafted out, and the food was still steaming. His throat moved as he swallowed. He had arrived home in the early hours of the morning and slept until nine.
The canteen’s breakfast had already been distributed.
He had endured the morning on an empty stomach.
Not long after, several regimental commanders entered the office.
Smelling the fragrant aroma filling the room, they walked over to Huo Jingyuan’s desk and saw a beautiful young girl sitting beside him. They teased, “Regimental Commander Huo, not only are you having a private feast, but you also have a girl delivering your meals?”
