Substituted Marriage to a Military Man: The Abstinent Boss Drops the Act on the First Night Chapter 169 Discussing Cooperation

Wen Ci nodded and clarified, “Let me explain, yesterday’s eight yuan per jin was a special opening promotion. Starting today, the clothes are nine yuan per jin.”

“Nine yuan per jin is still fine!”

The girl pulled a business card from her pocket and said cheerfully, “I sought you out, Boss Wen, to discuss potential cooperation. This is my card.”

Wen Ci looked at the card: Li Miao, Sales, Tongzhou Jiangnan Department Store.

She looked up and asked, “What kind of cooperation are you thinking of?”

Tongzhou was about a two-hour drive from Beijing.

“I’m in sales, usually focused on external sales. But this time, I’d like to purchase clothes from you to sell back in Tongzhou.”

“That’s possible, but you would be responsible for the shipping costs.”

Li Miao nodded, then paused. “Naturally, though we might not need a very large quantity initially.”

Wen Ci smiled, her eyes curving. “That’s alright, even a few hundred items would be fine.”

The quantity wasn’t the most important thing; she liked this young woman’s attitude. At this early hour, just after dawn, it must have taken her one or two hours to get here from the city.

“I spoke with my manager on the phone yesterday. We’d like to place an initial order for fifteen hundred garments.”

Wen Ci pressed her lips together. “I sell by weight, you know.”

Selling by the piece would be simpler—just count, pay, and done. But selling by weight meant each garment had to be weighed, and the total jin calculated.

“Yes, yes. Our boss has already sent the accountant to come to Beijing. If they sell well initially, we’ll likely order more.”

Tongzhou was a prefecture-level city, and Jiangnan Department Store was the largest store there, with smaller branches even in the counties within Tongzhou.

“No problem.”

Li Miao looked at Second Brother Su. “Driver, if you’re available, could you make a delivery to Tongzhou?”

Second Brother Su didn’t reply immediately, instead glancing at Wen Ci. He had already committed to Boss Wen for the day.

“Looks like I’ll just be handling their business today,” Wen Ci said.

Second Brother Su nodded. “Alright.”

For a small truck driver like him, jobs were usually within Beijing. Inter-city trips paid better, but he wasn’t very familiar with routes outside the city.

Tongzhou was different, though—his wife was from there.

Even in summer, Beijing’s early mornings were quite cool. Wen Ci invited Li Miao to wait inside the warehouse.

Li Miao was astonished when she saw the stockpile. For such high-demand clothing, there was an incredible amount left.

“Boss Wen, your supply channels are really impressive.”

“Thanks to a friend’s help.”

Xu Jinghe’s factory urgently needed restructuring. Selling at very low prices locally in the south would draw backlash from competitors, while selling at standard prices would lead to overstock. Therefore, there was a pressing need to sell this batch at a reasonable price elsewhere.

If Wen Ci weren’t Huo Jingyuan’s wife, he wouldn’t have sold to her. He essentially saw it as a way for Huo Jingyuan’s wife to earn some pocket money.

Around 8 o’clock, the accountant from Jiangnan Department Store arrived. They had also hired two workers to help load and unload the goods, so Wen Ci didn’t need to lift a finger.

She just needed to stand by the scale with the accountant and keep track of the numbers.

Half an hour later.

All fifteen hundred garments were loaded onto the truck. The accountant approached Wen Ci, holding a ledger. “Boss Wen, the total weight for these fifteen hundred items is 2463 jin. Please verify.”

Wen Ci nodded.

The Jiangnan Department Store accountant had recorded the weights in front of her.

“At the agreed price of nine yuan per jin, the amount payable is 22,167 yuan. We’d like to round it up to a neat 22,288 yuan. Is that acceptable to you?”

Wen Ci blinked.

She had expected them to round it to 22,200 yuan, but they rounded it to 22,288 yuan instead—a full 121 yuan more. That was not a small sum.

“There’s no need to round it up that much,” Wen Ci said.

Everyone worked hard for their money these days.
