With Lin Zhen and Song Jing present, Jack and his companions didn’t dare to do anything to Song Wei. However, their mouths were filthy, hurling insults about the country and its people without a single decent word.
Song Wei asked calmly, “Mr. Jack, may I ask if you brushed your teeth this morning?”
Jack didn’t understand her meaning.
Song Wei’s tone remained steady. “If you didn’t, could you please lower your voice? Your breath stinks.”
“You! You’re insulting me!”
“My apologies, but I’m someone who doesn’t like to lie. Also, our country welcomes polite and sincere partners. People like you, who lack even a shred of gentlemanly demeanor and take pleasure in bullying young women, are not welcome here.”
Jack’s expression twisted with anger. “What? Are you threatening to kick me out? Do you want to ruin relations between our countries and go to war?”
Song Wei smiled, a touch of contempt in her expression. “Mr. Jack, our country is developing, and we are indeed in a period of recovery. However, we are still a major power. When faced with invasions from stronger nations in the past, we did not cower. Do you think we would fear verbal threats from you?”
“And tell me this: can you make your country take responsibility for your rude behavior? Mr. Jack, you’re just a businessman. Don’t overestimate your importance. This is our territory, our land. Since you’re here, keep your foul-smelling mouth shut, show some respect, and follow our rules!”
International relations often work this way: when you show weakness, those stronger than you will not sympathize but only look down on you.
However, when you assert strength, they will be cautious.
Although their country seemed impoverished now, they had fended off foreign invasions through their own strength and resilience.
This was their kind of strength.
They might be poor and lack advanced weaponry, but they were not cowards.
Jack was genuinely intimidated by Song Wei’s aura and her words. All his talk about damaging relations between nations? In truth, he didn’t have that kind of influence—he was just posturing.
Unable to outtalk Song Wei, Jack and his friends cursed under their breath and tried to leave.
Song Wei sneered. “Apologize and compensate the girl for her medical expenses, lost wages, and all other damages.”
Jack stiffened, refusing to apologize. Who was he, and who was the waitress? Was she even worthy of his apology?
Song Wei picked up the tray the waitress had been holding earlier.
With a smile on her face, she clenched her fingers around the tray, bending it out of shape.
In front of the shocked onlookers, Song Wei slowly twisted the tray until it broke apart. Her tone remained gentle.
“Mr. Jack, we don’t have time to waste here with you.”
Jack’s eyes widened in fear, and he quickly blurted out, “I’m sorry,” to the waitress before tossing down some money and fleeing with his friends in embarrassment.
Song Wei picked up the money and handed it to the waitress.
“Take it.”
Then she turned around, smiling as she handed the deformed, broken tray to the sweating manager.
“It’s better to protect your own people. They’re here to do business, not to start a war. There’s no need to accommodate such rude, disrespectful behavior.”
Her voice was light, but the manager nodded repeatedly, sweating even more.
Without saying anything further, Song Wei left with Lin Zhen and Song Jing, heading to the banquet.
After they left, an elderly man in a military uniform, with partially grayed hair, stepped out from around the corner of the hallway.
“Who is that young woman?”
His voice carried authority, but his tone and expression showed admiration.
“It seems she’s a guest invited by Mr. Orlen to attend the banquet. We’ve never seen her before.”
If they wanted to investigate, they could easily uncover Song Wei’s background.
“Nowadays, it’s rare to see someone as confident and fearless as her when dealing with foreigners.”
Song Wei and the others were unaware of the evaluation they had just received. At this moment, Song Jing was feeling proud of his sister.
“Little sister, when did you learn English?”
Song Wei answered without hesitation, “I taught myself a long time ago, but I’ve never used it before.”
Lin Zhen chimed in, “Yes, I’ve seen her studying occasionally.”
Song Wei glanced at him and gave him a look of approval.
Song Jing didn’t probe further. After all, their mother and uncle both spoke foreign languages.
Still, given the tense political climate, he cautioned, “It’s better not to speak foreign languages outside.”
There was nothing wrong with the language itself. In fact, when his sister had confronted Jack in English earlier, she had looked incredibly cool. But he was worried that someone might use it as an excuse to create trouble.
The situation now was already much better than before.
Song Wei nodded in agreement.
When they arrived at the banquet hall, the event was already lively.
Orlen had frozen the bluefin tuna in ice and placed it on a massive display table in the center of the hall, drawing a crowd of onlookers.
Many people were taking photos and praising Orlen, who clearly enjoyed the attention, exuding pride while maintaining his poise.
This was what a cultivated aristocrat should be like—unlike Jack, who was petty, foul-mouthed, and utterly lacking in class.
“Song, you’re here.”
When Orlen saw Song Wei and her companions, his eyes lit up. Of course, his relationship with Song Wei wasn’t that close—his excitement was purely about seeing the orca photos.
Song Wei didn’t disappoint him. She took the prepared photos out of her coat pocket and handed them over.
“Here are the developed photos.”
Orlen looked through the pictures one by one, his smile growing wider, occasionally exclaiming in delight.
“Song, is this the orca hunting? Look at that massive school of fish!”
“You didn’t tell me you also caught sardines—with the help of orcas, no less. Did the orcas deliberately herd the sardines toward you? My goodness, they’re so intelligent. I think I’ve fallen in love with these smart and majestic marine creatures.”
Seeing Orlen’s genuine enthusiasm without any calculation or greed, Song Wei felt more favorable toward him.
“Yes, they’re very smart.”
Then Orlen saw a photo of a bluefin tuna being slapped into the air by an orca’s tail. He laughed heartily and couldn’t hide his envy.
“Next time I come across a stranded orca, I’ll make sure to be its savior.”
Song Wei nodded. “That would be great.”
Others gathered around, and Orlen asked, “Song, can I show these photos to my friends?”
“These are for you. You’re free to do with them as you wish.”
After all, he was a major client who had paid a substantial amount of money. Giving him a few photos didn’t hurt at all.
Delighted, Orlen began sharing the photos with his friends.
The exclamations of admiration grew louder.
These wealthy scions might have attended gatherings on yachts and seen orcas or even larger whales, but they had never had such close interactions with such massive, free-roaming marine creatures.
The fact that the orcas had even brought gifts for Song Wei and her group made this an enviable and almost unbelievable experience.
