Jiang Lin’an and Ji Huai breathed sighs of relief and went off to play with the pretty little Omegas. There weren’t many people around Gao Chun. Gong Ze glanced at him, remembering that he was a Beta.
Betas didn’t have scent glands and couldn’t smell pheromones.
They couldn’t soothe their Alpha partners during their rut, and they couldn’t release pheromones to satisfy an Omega partner during their heat.
They also didn’t have the strength of the former or the intelligence and sensitivity of the latter.
Therefore, although Betas had the largest population in the ABO world, they were subtly seen as the epitome of the ordinary and unremarkable.
Neither Alphas nor Omegas were very willing to choose Betas as partners.
But because they weren’t affected by pheromones, they didn’t have to wear suppressant patches every day, suffer along with others when their pheromones went out of control, or become neurotic and sensitive during special periods.
Also, male Betas had a lower pregnancy rate than female Betas, but they could still get pregnant.
And neither male nor female Betas menstruated.
Gong Ze thought Betas were better.
No pheromone periods, yet they could freely choose the gender of their marriage partner. Such a good deal — he figured countless women on Earth would jump at the chance to become a Beta.
So why, in the ABO world, were they considered ordinary and unremarkable and a marginalized gender?
As Gong Ze was slightly lost in thought, a hand gripped his chin and turned his head back toward him. Feng Yuan stared at him darkly, his voice clearly unhappy. “What are you looking at? You’re spacing out.”
“…I was wondering if you and Gao Chun had a fight. It seems like you two haven’t spoken today.” Gong Ze blinked, pulling his attention back, and looked at him.
Hearing him mention Gao Chun, Feng Yuan’s expression darkened. “Nothing.”
He wasn’t very willing to mention the conflict he and Gao Chun had had because of Gong Ze.
He was afraid Gong Ze would overthink it.
Also, it was troublesome.
And there was a small, secretive, awkward feeling.
He didn’t want Gong Ze to know that his friend didn’t like him.
It was annoying as hell.
“Why do you care about him?” Feng Yuan said coldly.
He picked up a wine glass and placed it in Gong Ze’s hand, then leaned against Gong Ze’s shoulder and tilted his head back. His sharp teeth ground against Gong Ze’s earlobe as he let out a fierce, ambiguous whisper: “Just focus on me. If you space out again, I’ll have to punish you.”
His voice wasn’t deliberately lowered. Gong Ze saw out of the corner of his eye that Gao Chun was looking their way.
His gaze made Gong Ze raise an eyebrow.
He had a bad feeling about this.
The partying continued until the afternoon. Gong Ze didn’t do anything else except stay by Feng Yuan’s side as his backrest. He didn’t know what was wrong with Feng Yuan today. Noticing Gao Chun’s stare, Feng Yuan deliberately pulled Gong Ze close and kissed him for a while under the dim lights.
Feng Yuan was a bit crazy.
In bed, he had to be on top. Sometimes, in the throes of passion, he would go wild, biting Gong Ze’s neck or choking him. Even when he lost his strength, his eyes bloodshot in the heat, he would still keep his eyes fixed intently on Gong Ze. The more pain, the more intense.
Also, he especially hated the position from behind.
It was like a young lion not allowing another lion to mount him, to offend his dignity and status?
Even when courting, he wouldn’t allow anyone to touch his sore spots.
If Gong Ze accidentally went with the flow, Feng Yuan would turn around and get angry.
Similarly, when kissing, Feng Yuan liked to be hysterical, not breathing at all, going deep into the throat, suffocatingly entwined and wet, his hands clawing at Gong Ze’s back, as if wanting to chew the soft lips apart.
Although fierce, it was particularly passionate.
Gong Ze had initially thought Feng Yuan was just influenced by the environment — a little lip-touching and hugging. After all, no matter how fierce Feng Yuan was, he was still just a normal Omega with needs.
Jiang Lin’an and Ji Huai, both Alphas, were pawing and kissing with a group of sweet Omegas. Their movements were so explicit that Feng Yuan wouldn’t let Gong Ze watch.
A delicate, boneless Omega had her legs draped over Ji Huai’s lap, but her body was leaning back against Jiang Lin’an’s chest, her arms reaching up to wrap around Jiang Lin’an’s neck. Jiang Lin’an lowered his head, and their tongues were practically twisting into a pretzel.
And no one knew what Ji Huai’s hands were doing, but the Omega was whimpering, her little white skirt barely staying on. After she finished kissing Jiang Lin’an and sat up, Ji Huai pinned her down on the sofa and kissed her scent gland on the back of her neck.
Instantly!
A rich, floral pheromone smell shot straight to Gong Ze’s crown chakra, filling the entire private room. The beautiful people drinking nearby were affected, their faces flushing. In that moment, every imaginable scent was present.
Even though all their pheromones were quite nice,
Gong Ze felt that if someone prone to motion sickness came in and took a breath, they’d throw up two pounds on the way back.
Because the smell was like a carsick person sitting in a private car with the windows closed, and the driver had placed several bottles of pungent, common-brand air fresheners inside.
As an Alpha, Gong Ze’s breathing grew rapid. He felt the blood vessels or glands at the back of his neck throbbing, like he had taken a stimulant. The sound of blood rushing filled his eardrums.
He had just marked Feng Yuan yesterday, so he was in a sensitive period.
As an Omega, Feng Yuan was even more so.
The spot under his suppressant patch stung and burned. His eyes slowly darkened and reddened. He had just been holding Gong Ze, leaning against him, but soon he boldly slid his hand onto Gong Ze’s stomach.
Feng Yuan hated restraint, so after a moment, he leaned over to get intimate with Gong Ze.
His hot, burning body pressed close.
Gong Ze felt like everything was on fire.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Jiang Lin’an and Ji Huai take the Omega, who was too limp to stand, and another Omega into the bathroom attached to the private room.
The booming music played, drowning out all other sounds.
The handsome men and beautiful women affected by the pheromones also paired up, mingling into several small groups.
He couldn’t let this continue.
He wasn’t used to being watched!
Gong Ze couldn’t keep up the act anymore. Showing a bit of dominance, he grabbed Feng Yuan’s arms and held him still, refusing to let Feng Yuan continue aggressively gnawing on him. He said in a low voice:
“Feng Yuan, what’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing’s wrong. Do I need a reason to make out with my boyfriend?”
Feng Yuan was panting, his eyes completely bloodshot, as he looked at Gong Ze with a smirk.
“No.”
Gong Ze shook his head. “Did you have a fight with your friends? I can see you’re unhappy.” The way he was acting seemed deliberately performative, as if for someone’s benefit.
Gong Ze’s brow furrowed as he touched Feng Yuan’s face. He didn’t like this in his heart.
Sensing Gong Ze’s concern, Feng Yuan paused, clicked his tongue, and turned to bite his finger.
“Busybody.”
“Just tell me about it. So you can feel better.”
After a moment of silence, Feng Yuan told Gong Ze what had happened earlier.
Feng Yuan had been especially happy today, having just spent the night of springtime bliss. Unable to contain himself, he had shown off to his friends about his progress with his little boyfriend. But then his brother had ruined his mood, leaving him with a stifled anger. Feng Yuan had wanted Gao Chun to see for himself: what was wrong with him and Gong Ze?
He and Gong Ze were perfect together.
After hearing this, Gong Ze was speechless. He looked at Feng Yuan, his eyes expressing his thoughts: You and your rich friends are like little kids.
So childish.
Feng Yuan looked suspicious. “What’s that look for?”
Feng Yuan was furious. “How dare you curse me with your eyes!”
Gong Ze burst out laughing, tilting his head back to dodge Feng Yuan’s headbutt. The two of them laughed and horsed around, their arms and legs tangling together, one pinning the other.
Gradually, the ‘hits’ they landed on each other grew slower and slower. The hits turned into touches, and the touches turned into unconscious caresses and soothing.
In a hidden, cramped corner, the two of them looked at each other through the colorful lights, clearly seeing the spring in each other’s eyes and the smiles on their faces.
Feng Yuan stared at Gong Ze for a long time, then bit down hard on Gong Ze’s lips.
And Gong Ze, out of habit, took the lead. Soon, the fierce, mad lion-like Omega relaxed his back, willingly melting into his chest.
“Tch… Fucking…”
“Shh. Don’t curse.”
In the dim light, Gao Chun, who didn’t know how long he had been watching them, averted his gaze with difficulty. He pushed his wine glass onto the coffee table with a clang and raised his hand to cover his forehead and eyes.
A man and a woman, affected by the pheromones, bumped into his arm as they kissed and moved around. Irritated, Gao Chun growled darkly, “Get the hell away!”
“Sorry, Young Master Gao.”
The two were frightened sober and apologized repeatedly.
Gao Chun let out an annoyed huff through his nose, massaging his throbbing forehead. His gaze involuntarily drifted to the lively, small corner.
He saw Feng Yuan pulling Gong Ze, the two of them staggering into another bathroom. The bathroom door had a frosted colored glass panel in the center, semi-transparent. Not long after they went in, there was a bang as a body pressed against it from the inside.
Gao Chun’s pupils suddenly dilated. After a long pause, he snapped out of it and clenched his jaw.
When this wild, indulgent party finally ended, Jiang Lin’an and Ji Huai exchanged phone numbers with the two blushing, disheveled little Omegas and waved goodbye.
Soon after, Gong Ze and Feng Yuan also emerged from the bathroom. Both of them were red all over.
“So that’s why everyone was using the other bathroom. You two were hogging this one.”
Jiang Lin’an smiled, and with the lipstick mark on his throat, he had the look of a carefree, unrestrained playboy.
Ji Huai was worried about Feng Yuan and asked quietly, “Did you use protection?”
After all, among the four of them, Feng Yuan was the only Omega.
Ji Huai didn’t want someone as proud and unrestrained as Feng Yuan to end up with a big belly from his kept lover, fighting with his family. That kind of ordinary Omega life wasn’t suitable for Feng Yuan.
Or rather, Ji Huai couldn’t imagine it.
Feng Yuan raised an eyebrow. “No.”
The smile on Ji Huai’s face immediately fell. He frowned and looked at Gong Ze.
The dull, wooden Alpha blushed and said dryly, “We didn’t… go that far…”
Ji Huai’s expression relaxed.
Jiang Lin’an, upon hearing this, looked incredulous. “You two were in there for an hour, and you just kissed?!”
“Not exactly…”
The Alpha glanced at them and pressed his lips together.
Seeing his shy, awkward demeanor, Feng Yuan explained for him. “I finished. He didn’t.”
Ji Huai and Jiang Lin’an’s eyes went wide with shock. They both looked at Gong Ze, then their gazes simultaneously dropped lower. “Holy shit! Really? That’s insane.”
“…” Gong Ze, under their burning stares, felt extremely uncomfortable. His body stiffened, as if he were naked.
Feng Yuan, however, showed no embarrassment as an Omega. Instead, he scoffed, cigarette between his lips, and lifted his head with an expression that was arrogant, handsome, and impossible to look away from. The smile on his lips was fiery and sexy. His voice was hoarse from satisfaction. “How about that? Pretty awesome, right?”
“Awesome, awesome.”
“Unreachable…”
They were all Alphas, so why was there such a big difference?
“But honestly, you’re way too lucky.” Jiang Lin’an said secretly to Gong Ze. “Gong Ze is such a top-tier catch. He’s impressive in every way. It’s like the heavens couldn’t stand you — an Omega who’s more arrogant than an Alpha — so they sent him to collect you. You’d better be careful. Don’t let an impulse lead to you getting knocked up one day.”
“Tch. No way.”
“No way, my ass! Look at you, all satisfied and full! Spring has sprung, hey!”
The arrogant man raised a hand and patted the shoulder of his leather jacket, looking at Jiang Lin’an with a sardonic smile. “Having a child? Over my dead body.”
Jiang Lin’an was stunned for a moment by the cold smile hidden beneath his expression. He quickly realized Feng Yuan was serious.
Feng Yuan couldn’t accept his secondary gender.
And he hated Alphas.
He only saw himself as a man. The Omega secondary gender was fine as a bit of spice, but he would never bear children for another man for his entire life.
Jiang Lin’an: “…”
He moved his lips. “Alright, actually… I think settling down wouldn’t be bad. Maybe when that day comes, you’ll feel differently…”
Feng Yuan patted him on the chest and said lazily, “Less worrying.”
Jiang Lin’an sighed and fell silent.
When Feng Yuan fell in love with an Alpha, they, as his brothers, worried. When Feng Yuan swore he would never settle down or have children, they, as his brothers, also worried.
It was all God’s fault.
Jiang Lin’an muttered.
If, during his secondary presentation, Feng Yuan had presented as an Alpha, everything would have been fine. But he just had to present as an Omega!
The party was breaking up, and they were discussing going somewhere else to eat.
They turned on the lights, looked around, and realized Gao Chun was gone.
“Strange. Where is he?”
“Did he go out to buy cigarettes? Ji Huai, go ask the front desk. I’ll go check the other bathroom outside. We were using both of the ones in here. Did Gao Chun drink too much and end up face-down in an outside toilet?”
“Pfft, hahaha.”
