Marrying the Infertile Officer, Winning Effortlessly in the Seventies with a Pregnancy System Chapter 272: The Sheng Family Has a Worthy Successor!

Fang Wanrong felt that Sheng Xinhao was acting a bit strange.

But she couldn’t pinpoint the reason.

Yet her intuition told her that he was definitely hiding something from her.

Watching Sheng Xinhao’s furious figure as he stood up and stormed off to another room, Fang Wanrong’s gentle eyes darkened with gloom.

Ever since the day he met Xingxing and Yueyue, Sheng Xinhao had grown fond of them.

After all, they were his own grandchildren.

In the days that followed, he visited the Sang family even more frequently.

However, he noticed that the two little ones seemed even more distant toward him.

Sheng Xinhao was hurt, but he didn’t dare say anything, much less scold the children.

He could only hope to slowly build a bond with them.

So, every time he went to the Sang family, he brought gifts for Xingxing and Yueyue.

To his credit, Sheng Xinhao’s gifts truly resonated with the children.

But despite that, Xingxing and Yueyue remained as aloof as ever.

As Sheng Xinhao spent more time with the twins, he began to notice something extraordinary about them.

He realized that the two children were genuinely brilliant—so much so that they could be called “prodigies.”

At just over two years old, they already carried themselves like little adults.

Their memory was photographic, their logic sharp, and their thinking remarkably firm.

Sheng Xinhao also discovered that the children had exceptional physical constitutions—especially Xingxing, who showed incredible talent in martial arts.

This revelation thrilled Sheng Xinhao beyond measure.

This was even better than when his eldest son was a child!

Xingxing was perfectly suited for a future in the military.

The Sheng family had a worthy successor at last!

Sheng Xinhao had always known that for children to be born exceptional, their parents’ genes were crucial.

For instance, his son Sheng Zexi, born to him and Sang Yuwan, was outstanding.

But if the mother’s genes were lacking, the children might not measure up.

Given how exceptional his eldest son and daughter-in-law were, it was no wonder Xingxing and Yueyue were so remarkable at just two years old.

Knowing Xingxing’s potential in martial arts and hoping to bond with the children, Sheng Xinhao didn’t lose his temper even when they ignored him.

Instead, he began practicing martial arts in the courtyard.

Given his high-ranking position, Sheng Xinhao’s combat skills were still formidable.

As it turned out, his approach was the right one.

Though Yueyue showed no interest in martial arts, Xingxing was captivated.

While Sheng Xinhao trained, Xingxing couldn’t help but steal glances.

Eventually, Xingxing even wanted to imitate him.

Back at home, he had always practiced boxing with his father.

But now, separated from his dad in the capital, his training had come to a halt.

Despite his fascination with Sheng Xinhao’s martial arts, Xingxing stubbornly remembered that this was the “bad grandpa” and refused to initiate contact.

Sheng Xinhao’s frequent visits and interactions with the children didn’t go unnoticed by Grandma and Grandpa Sang.

After observing for a while and confirming that Sheng Xinhao meant no harm—instead going out of his way to please the twins—they chose not to interfere.

After all, no matter how much Sheng Zexi refused to acknowledge his father, Sheng Xinhao was still his parent and the children’s biological grandfather.

Moreover, though Sheng Xinhao had failed in raising Sheng Zexi, there was no denying that he still cared deeply for his eldest son.

Grandma Sang had informed Sheng Zexi over the phone about Sheng Xinhao’s frequent visits to see the twins.

Sheng Zexi fell silent after hearing it but ultimately said nothing.

However, when Xingxing spoke to his father on the phone, he asked seriously:

“Dad, can I practice martial arts with him?”

To be honest, Sheng Xinhao’s martial arts had genuinely intrigued Xingxing.

Though the little boy occasionally watched out of interest, he wouldn’t actually learn without his parents’ permission.

After all, this was the “bad grandpa” who had disliked Mommy and abandoned Daddy.

Xingxing stood firmly on his parents’ side.

Sheng Zexi gritted his teeth. He knew exactly what that old man was thinking.

Xingxing’s potential—Sheng Xinhao must have recognized it at a glance.

No doubt, he saw Xingxing as a prodigy worth nurturing, which was why he was putting in so much effort to get close.

And now he was even using martial arts to lure Xingxing in!

What a shameless old man!

After some thought, Sheng Zexi replied, “Xingxing, if you want to learn, then go ahead.”

At the end of the day, his grudge with the old man was between the two of them—it shouldn’t extend to Xingxing and Yueyue.

Of course, this was also because Sheng Xinhao harbored no ill will toward the twins and was even actively trying to win them over. Otherwise…

And so, Sheng Xinhao was overjoyed when, during another visit, he tentatively asked Xingxing if he wanted to train with him—and the boy actually agreed!

His strategy had worked!

After personally teaching Xingxing, Sheng Xinhao became even more convinced of the boy’s extraordinary talent.

In Xingxing, he saw the future of the Sheng family!

….

Meanwhile, ever since sensing something off about Sheng Xinhao’s behavior that day, Fang Wanrong had been carefully observing him.

She soon noticed that he had been going out more frequently lately, and his moods were fluctuating unpredictably.

Once, he even murmured “Yueyue” in his sleep, jolting Fang Wanrong awake.

Yueyue!

That was clearly a woman’s name!

Why would Sheng Xinhao call out another woman’s name in his dreams?

Could it be…?

Fang Wanrong’s mind raced with suspicion—was Sheng Xinhao seeing another woman?

The more she thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.

His recent behavior—mood swings, frequent outings, growing coldness toward her—it was all suspicious.

If he had another woman, everything would make sense.

Fang Wanrong never underestimated Sheng Xinhao’s appeal.

Though he was older now, he was still a handsome man who had aged well, without the middle-aged paunch many men developed.

Moreover, his status and power alone were enough to attract countless women.

Hadn’t she herself once been one of those women vying for his attention?

And in the end, she had defeated all the others and secured her position as Madam Sheng!

“No! I absolutely cannot allow another woman to take my place!” Panic surged through Fang Wanrong.

If this had happened when she still had her own child, she might not have been so frantic.

But now, she had no child—only her title as Madam Sheng.

If she lost even that… what would she have left?

“Whoever you are, I won’t let you steal my position as Madam Sheng!” Her eyes darkened with ruthless determination.

Immediately, she hired someone to follow Sheng Xinhao and investigate where he went and who he was meeting.
