Substituted Marriage to a Military Man: The Abstinent Boss Drops the Act on the First Night Chapter 85: Everything Follows Regimental Commander Huo’s Orders

Wen Ci entered the courtyard and, through the bedroom window, saw the figure of the man inside. She leaned against the bedroom door and asked knowingly, “Regimental Commander Huo, where are you planning to go?”

Huo Jingyuan paused his movements of packing his coat, then walked to the door, wrapping his arm around his wife’s slender waist. He replied calmly, “The Hell’s Week training is about to start. I won’t see you for a week.”

Wen Ci’s eyes curved upward as she clung to the man’s shoulders, her eyes misty as she teased with a faint smile, “Since we won’t see each other for a week, how about this afternoon…”

She was deliberately ‘provoking’ Huo Jingyuan.

Stirring his desire, only to douse it with cold water.

Immediately, the man’s gaze burned as he looked at Wen Ci. The Hell’s Week was set to begin at 5 p.m., and it was only around 9 or 10 a.m. now.

Suddenly, reason suppressed the desire in the man’s heart. He released Wen Ci’s waist, gently lifted her chin, and slightly lowered his eyelids: “Isn’t this working hours? Why are you back?”

Wen Ci shrugged: “I forgot something and came back to get it.”

“What thing?”

The man stepped closer, forcing Wen Ci to lean against the door, her back pressed against the wall as their eyes locked in a direct gaze.

Wen Ci stammered for a while without speaking.

Huo Jingyuan quickly understood. His deep, ink-like eyes looked at Wen Ci, his brows slightly furrowed as he said lightly, “The Hell’s Week is tough.”

Whether officers or soldiers, everyone participating in the Hell’s Week has to fend for themselves in the wild. Although the accompanying doctors and nurses don’t have much workload, surviving in the wild is no easy task.

Wen Ci: “I’ve endured a lot of hardships.”

Her implication was that she wasn’t afraid of hardship.

After spending so much time with Wen Ci, he had come to understand her personality well—stubborn. Once she made up her mind, no one could change it.

Huo Jingyuan shook his head dotingly: “Then pack a couple more packs of instant noodles.”

“Can I bring them?!”

Wen Ci’s eyes lit up. On her way back, she had been wondering if she could bring instant noodles. In the wild, the aroma of instant noodles was incredibly tempting.

“Only in the tent.”

Wen Ci playfully saluted Huo Jingyuan and said with a smile, “Everything follows Regimental Commander Huo’s orders!”

When it came to the warmest clothes in the wardrobe, nothing beat the military coat. It might feel stuffy during the day, but it was perfect for wearing at night.

With both of them at home, Huo Jingyuan took charge of cooking lunch.

At the dining table, Wen Ci remembered something and asked while eating, “If there’s not much work, can Yu Qing and I practice dancing in the tent?”

“Yes.”

The accompanying medical staff weren’t restricted in what they could do, as long as they stayed in the tent. In the past, medical staff would bring medical books along.

“But,” Huo Jingyuan lowered his eyelids, “you’re only allowed to practice during the day. No practicing by candlelight at night, understand?”

“Why?”

The medical tents were set up near the soldiers’ area. In the evening, the light from the candles would reveal their graceful silhouettes through the tent.

“No need for so many whys.”

“Oh.” Wen Ci didn’t press further.

Huo Jingyuan reminded her, “Remember to take a bath before leaving.”

Water resources were scarce in the northwest. Even when they lived in the family quarters, they only bathed every two days, except in special circumstances when they had to boil water themselves at night.

“A week without bathing?!”

Huo Jingyuan wore a faint smile: “Of course not. There’s a small stream near the Hell’s Week training site. You’ll have to fetch water and boil it yourself. You can bathe every three or four days.”

Wen Ci nodded.

Two or three days were still acceptable, but any longer, and she would have to find a place to bathe in the wild.
