1980s: Sickly Educated Youth Raising Cubs in the Countryside Chapter 303: The Snow Leopard Mother Wakes Up

Hasanmu and the others confirmed it several times and finally felt that Lin Zhen and Song Wei really hadn’t lied to them.

Since they couldn’t figure it out for now, they decided to take the wolf pups and snow leopard cubs back first.

The larger snow leopard was also brought along.

At one point, it woke up and was so fierce that it terrified the horse pulling the cart, making it tremble in fear.

Song Wei promptly knocked it out again.

Without anesthesia, physical knockouts were the only option.

By the time they returned to the pasture, the five little cubs were already starving, whimpering weakly without even the energy to howl.

“Hurry, hurry, go get some goat milk!”

Several men quickly went to milk the goats.

Fortunately, there was enough milk here.

As soon as they caught the scent of the milk, the five cubs immediately grew restless, almost overturning the basin holding the goat milk.

Song Wei held the basin steady and fished out the domineering little snow leopard that had tumbled right into it.

“This is for you to drink, not for you to bathe in.”

The little one grumbled defiantly, squeezing in with its siblings and the five wolf pups to form a circle, lapping up the milk.

Feng Tingxuan had been stunned since their return.

The pile of wolf corpses and the unconscious snow leopard were simply too shocking to behold.

Not just him—even Yu Wei and the others had been deeply shocked when they first saw it.

It was just that their attention had been somewhat diverted by the wolf pups at the time, so their reactions weren’t as obvious.

The entire way back with the wolves, they couldn’t decide whether these three young people were too bold or just plain reckless—but they were also exhilarated.

Three people had taken down an entire wolf pack.

Even their own brigade wouldn’t believe it if they told them.

“Let’s roast this blue sheep for dinner today.”

Such a large blue sheep! However, parts of the meat had been bitten by the wolves and the snow leopard, so those sections were trimmed off.

They set those aside to feed the snow leopard once it woke up.

Who wouldn’t want to feast on roasted lamb? Everyone immediately got busy.

At this point, the people of Nankang Brigade unanimously overlooked Feng Tingxuan’s identity.

They had figured out by now that Feng Tingxuan was on very good terms with Lin Zhen and Song Wei.

With so many men handling the work, Song Wei had nothing to do but wait to eat.

Her only task was to keep an eye on the snow leopard to prevent it from suddenly waking up and attacking—even injured, it would be hard to control.

Only Song Wei could easily subdue the snow leopard.

Along the way, Song Wei had tried her best to keep the wolf pups from seeing the corpses of their pack, and she did the same here.

Holding the wolf pups and snow leopard cubs, she sat down beside the snow leopard, giving each one a good rub. They still carried the milky scent!

Plump and soft, the wolf pups—aside from the white one—were all a bit ugly-cute, just like Wolf One and Wolf Two had been as pups.

The snow leopard cubs, on the other hand, were quite handsome. The three little ones had been well cared for—the snow leopard mother must have been an excellent hunter, or else they wouldn’t have been raised so well.

That adult blue sheep had likely been hunted by the snow leopard mother, only to be robbed by the wolf pack ganging up on her.

Lin Zhen brought over a basin of the trimmed blue sheep meat.

“We’ll see if the snow leopard eats this when it wakes up. Be careful yourself—if you can’t control it, just kill it.”

Of course, people were more important than the snow leopard.

Song Wei nodded. “I’ll keep an eye on it, don’t worry.”

Xiao Laoda (Little Boss) also trotted over curiously, sniffing around the little cubs.

But the little guy seemed a bit afraid of the snow leopard mother and didn’t dare get too close to her.

Halfway through roasting the blue sheep, the snow leopard mother woke up—probably lured by the smell of meat.

Her eyes were a pale gold, and the moment they opened, her imposing aura returned, giving off an inexplicable sense of pressure.

Song Wei noticed the instant she opened her eyes. She twisted around, reached out with both hands, and clamped the snow leopard’s jaws shut before it could even part them.

Snow Leopard: !!!

Her once-intimidating, fierce eyes instantly widened into round orbs.

Song Wei stared right back at her.

The snow leopard’s fur bristled all over as she tried to resist, but her injuries were too severe.

Song Wei pressed down firmly on the struggling snow leopard.

“Behave. Your wounds were just treated—don’t tear them open again.”

“Meow—ROAR!”

The snow leopard let out a sharp cry.

Song Wei’s eyes lit up. “Do that again!”

Wow, she never expected such a majestic-looking snow leopard to have such a cute voice.

It was a mix between a cat’s meow and a bird’s chirp—clear and delicate.

The snow leopard bared her fangs and made all sorts of fierce expressions and movements, but none of it worked on Song Wei.

If she opened her mouth to bite, Song Wei could instantly clamp it shut.

If she raised a paw, Song Wei would push it right back down.

If she tried to get up, she was still pinned in place, unable to move.

Snow Leopard: Never in my life have I been so humiliated!!!

The three little snow leopard cubs seemed to recognize their mother, wobbling their way toward her.

Their tiny paws stumbled every which way, each cub marching to its own rhythm.

Mid-walk, one even face-planted right on flat ground.

But the little snow leopard ball didn’t seem hurt—it just got back up and continued toddling over in its chaotic little steps.

Seeing her own cubs, the snow leopard mother—still pinned under Song Wei—finally calmed down a little.

Song Wei released her grip once she saw the snow leopard’s emotions stabilize.

The snow leopard mother stared at her with big eyes for a long moment before finally lowering her head to sniff her own cubs.

And then—if not for her injuries—she might have leaped up in shock!

What in the world? Why did her cubs smell like such a mess?!

The scent of the two-legged creature beside them was one thing, but there was also the stench of those annoying wolves!

Song Wei could practically see the snow leopard’s existential crisis written all over her fluffy face.

Her round eyes widened as she stared at the little cubs wriggling their way under her belly, refusing to believe it. She leaned in for another sniff.

Then, the snow leopard let out a huge sneeze.

Her gaze shifted from maternal affection to sheer disgust.

Without moving her body, the snow leopard mother hooked one cub with a paw and dragged it forward, licking it from head to tail.

The already unsteady snow leopard cub was immediately knocked over by the vigorous grooming session.

But that wasn’t enough—the mother kept licking, pawing at the cub like a mom scrubbing her kid with a steel wool pad during bath time, determined to scrape off every last trace of filth.

Song Wei: “……”

But the snow leopard mother was so preoccupied with despising her cubs’ foreign smells that she completely forgot about Song Wei for a moment.

The aroma of roasted lamb wafted over, and Song Wei couldn’t resist standing up.

Instantly alert, the snow leopard mother hissed at her, eyes locked on.

Song Wei simply placed the basin of meat in front of her, then picked up the five wolf pups and left.

For safety, the snow leopard mother was kept about 200 meters away from their campsite.

This way, they could still keep an eye on her without worrying about her suddenly waking up and attacking someone.

Only after Song Wei left with the wolf pups did the snow leopard mother finally relax.

Catching another whiff of wolf scent in the air, she sneezed again in disgust.

But now, she was hungry.

Her gaze fell on the basin of meat beside her.
